Aerospace Application

SurTec 650 for Aerospace Applications

The advantages of SurTec 650 for aerospace applications are mainly characterized by its excellent corrosion protection against bare metal, low contact resistance, excellent adhesion of the coating and the high standard of international certifications.

The inorganic passivation film layer formed by SurTec 650 not only provides excellent corrosion protection, but also ensures electrical conductivity of the metal surface and adhesion of subsequent coatings in accordance with MIL-DTL-81706B certifications (Class 1A and Class 3), with all components registered and compliant with REACH.

SurTec 650 is an alternative to cadmium coatings for fastener components in the aerospace industry. The combined technology with ultra-thin PVD aluminum coatings can be used on steel and titanium fasteners to prevent the risk of hydrogen embrittlement and contact corrosion.

These features make SurTec 650 the ideal surface treatment technology for the aerospace sector, especially in applications requiring high corrosion resistance and electrical conductivity.

Electrical Applications

SurTec 650 Provides Sealing Protection for Electrical Systems

SurTec 650 provides sealing protection for electrical systems, especially on the assembly side of connecting plugs, which explicitly require seals with sufficient corrosion resistance. By using SurTec 650, a passivator containing trivalent chromium, the corrosion resistance of the seals can be significantly improved and the requirements of the relevant Volkswagen Group document PV 1209 can be reliably met (720 hours in a neutral salt spray test).

5G Life

SurTec 650 in 5G Applications

SurTec 650’s application in 5G is characterized by its excellent corrosion resistance and low contact resistance, properties that make it an ideal surface treatment technology for 5G antennas and masts. The world’s top 5G providers use the SurTec 650 process for corrosion protection on their components to ensure reliable network operations
